“I never knew I could miss a stranger’s arms”
New sad boy indie music from The Ellis Court

“I know” is a song written by my friend Alan a couple decades ago. I always loved it, so I asked him if I could record it for my next album. Here’s why…

In the early 2000s, internet dating still felt new. For queer folks especially, meeting other queer people online held a powerful emotional potency. If you were young, or lived far away from a big LGBT community, an online chat or email thread felt like one of the only places in the world that you could be your true self.

In retrospect, given what the internet has become, that seems pretty ironic and naive. But still, if I’m ever watching a retro movie and I hear the classic AOL voice say “You’ve got mail,” I can feel my heart jump a little.

“I Know” is now streaming everywhere. I hope you like it.

(P.S. Don’t miss the “B-side” track. More about that one later.)
